Schools and Us
We love to have schools come visit us and we are happy to come and help with delivering assemblies.
In terms of what we offer in the church building, we have a four year rolling programme of “Experience” events which school classes come to, to offer a way of engaging with different elements of the curriculum. Classes come and experience and explore different elements of the Christian faith through interactive stations where there will be arts, crafts, games, quizzes, drama and story-telling.Over the four years, children will get to Experience four festivals – Christmas, Easter, Harvest and Pentecost and they will also experience stories Jesus told, the Old Testament, church and life (weddings and baptisms). Roughly 550 children visit each Experience event. We hold two different Experience events a year and offer roughly twenty sessions for classes over a period of three weeks for each event.
In the past we have also partnered together in collecting food for our local food bank, sending eight Posada sets (knitted Mary, Joseph and donkey) around our community during Advent and creating Christingles to raise money for The Children’s Society.
We have links with five local primary schools:- Sycamore Academy, Huntingdon Academy, St Ann’s Well Academy, Hogarth Academy, Blue Bell Hill Academy. The schools visit us for seasonal services and we visit them to take assemblies.
